Operation Smile & CTMH – Make Someone Smile

2014 CTMH Operation Smile Base & Bling Necklace

Close To My Heart has been supporting Operation Smile since 2004. A portion of the proceeds from each sale of a stamp set has gone to this wonderful charity. Plus, customers can always round up their order totals and donate the change to Operation Smile–such a simple way to help out. Consultants got in on the action and began having Silent Auctions at our local events and even at the Annual Conventions to support this cause.

Last year, the support expanded to an exclusive Base & Bling necklace created by CTMH only for Convention attendees with a minimum donation amount (pictured above.) It was so well received, that they did it again this year!

Also, last year was the first year for a 5K run–just like the necklaces, it was a hit so they did it again this year. Would you believe that we raised over $40,000 for Operation Smile during Convention this year between the necklaces, the auction and the 5K run?!? Amazing, right?

Amazing Cricut Artiste Card

Today’s card is another project that my Stamp Club created this month. The design is perfect for using up scraps. Plus, it showcases Shimmer Trim and our Paper Fundamentals beautifully!

Our Paper Fundamentals are beautiful–and often overlooked–double-sided cardstock that have the same design on both sides. One side features a glossy resist pattern while the other side is matte/traditional cardstock created with the same pattern in the selected color with white.

Upcycled Toilet Paper Roll Project

As promised earlier this week, here is an upcycled project I created using this month’s Stamp of the Month—Life Is Wonderful. It’s a little treat container! I reinforced the base using a cut out circle and some Liquid Glass. Fill it with whatever treat you’d like and then wrap it in some tissue paper (a perfect square works nicely!) Tie the top closed–I used some Glacier Extra Thick Twine. I unraveled the twine to make it a little more substantial–a fun and easy technique.

CTMH Happy Hexagons Gum Box

Today’s project is a Gum Box Container I created for my teammates attending CTMH’s Convention. It’s part of the little gift I’m giving to each of them. Convention starts tomorrow–it’s so exciting!! Soon all the newest CTMH goodies will be revealed. Today I’ll be CTMH’s Leadership Day. Usually no big surprises are revealed to us, but sometimes we get a small taste of what’s to come. Like last year, we got a chance to use the *NEW* ShinHan Alcohol Markers before anyone else (well, 1 day ahead of everyone else!)–so that was our little sneak peek!

How to Make a 4th of July Pinwheel

Happy 4th of July! How about making a fun and festive pinwheel?!? The perfect DIY project for the 4th of July (or an average summer day!)

The key is to always start with a square. I used Close To My Heart’s Exotic Flower Hostess Stamp Set (B1477) since it is a perfect square. To make this project interesting, I decided to use a piece of transparency rather than cardstock. I stamped the image using Black StazOn ink (Z888.) Then I flipped the piece over and colored in the image using ShinHan’s Warm Grey (Z2468), Carmine (Z2448) and Marine Blue (Z2458) Markers.
