A Unique Twist on a Paper Weave Technique Card
Today I have a unique twist on a Paper Weave Technique Card to share. It has great depth and texture to it. And it’s simple to create. Plus, it’s a fantastic way to use up your scraps. Something we can all appreciate, right?
Here’s a quick DIY tutorial for creating it:
STEP 1:
Cut strips of (2) coordinating patterned paper into 3/4” x 12”. (I’m using the gorgeous Moonlit Flora Papers.) Start by laying out your first few strips. I start in the middle by having one of the strips going diagonal from the upper right corner to the lower left corner of my base cardstock piece. I then take (2) strips of the other patterned paper and begin the weaving process by having one above the first strip and one below.
STEP 2:
Continue alternating the strips of patterned papers until you have them all laid out as desired on your base piece of cardstock. Notice that I’ve left small squares of the cardstock base showing through. This gives your eyes little resting spots when you leave space rather than having the strips flush up against each other. Then take Glue Dots and adhere several spots of the paper weaving down to the cardstock base—you don’t need to glue all spots down, but you can if you’d like.
STEP 3:
Once you have your pieces glued down, flip over your cardstock base and trim off the excess paper strips. If you didn’t glue down all the pieces, you should trim off the excess strips slow in case you need to tack down a few pieces better.
STEP 4:
For some added texture, a unique appearance, and to connect the pieces a little more securely, emboss your piece of cardstock that has been paper weaved with your favorite embossing folder. A 3D Embossing Folder will work great since it gives a deeper impression.
I used Stampin’ Up!’s Dotted Circles 3D Embossing Folder and love the look it created.
The Paper Weave Technique along with the 3D Embossing Folder creates a real showstopper effect on its own for your project. There’s little need for a lot of extra embellishing or stamping. A simple sentiment or focal point is all you need.
Would you agree—adding the 3D Embossing Folder is a unique twist on a Paper Weave Technique Card?
