Creating a PEZ Box

Ready to add a personal touch to gifting a PEZ candy dispenser by creating a PEZ Box? It adds such a nice touch and is so easy to do. You could gift them in their original packaging but which one would you prefer to receive—the original packaging or the adorable handmade box version?

Easter Bunny PEZ Dispenser

This box is big enough to hold the dispenser and the 3 packages of candy. And I made sure to have it be just tall enough that it doesn’t cover the head of the dispenser. Instead the head peaks out giving a little glimpse of what you’ll find inside. The crinkle paper isn’t necessary, but I felt like it finished off the project for a more polished look.

Speaking of a polished look—the beautiful Pastels Shimmer Specialty Paper was the perfect accent to this box. I used it for the trim and for the frame die-cut. Even just a small amount of the paper can make a big impact. Plus, that means you have plenty more for other projects! Win-win!

For the box, you’ll start with a 6-1/2” x 4” piece of cardstock. You’ll score along the 6-1/2” side at 1-1/2”, 3”, 4-1/2” and 6”. Then you’ll rotate it 90 degrees and score along the 4” side at 1”. You’ll snip away the small 1/2” x 1” rectangle in the corner. This will create the tab to close the box. You’ll then miter the edges (cut away slim triangles) of 2 of the panels (the 1st & 3rd panels) so that you have a less bulky closure at the base of the box. Here’s a handy diagram I drew to help for those who are visual like me!
