Summer is coming to a close. Kids have either headed back to school or will be shortly. Now is the perfect time to capture those summer memories while they are still fresh in your mind! Did you take a summer trip to an amusement park this summer? Well, Close To My Heart’s Magical Collection is the perfect companion for those amusement park photos! While the colors in this collection are definitely Disney inspired, the sentiments and images found in the papers and accessories are so versatile that they work well with any theme park.

This card not only uses this month’s Close To My Heart Stamp of the Month—From the Notebook, but also several items that will be retiring at the end of this month. It’s a great time to snatch up these items before they are discontinued!

The first thing I did was cut out the notebook paper from the Cricut Artbooking Collection–I mean how could you pass up pairing the stamp set with this awesome cut!?!

I decided to make a Gift Card Holder with the set as my first project. It seemed perfect for a gift for a family member, neighbor or even a teacher who was going to be taking a fun vacation this summer.

Watercolor Paints are Wonderful

Playing with watercolor paints is awesome–it’s like you can’t mess it up! Need a little more color, add it. Need less color, add some water. Plus, there are fun techniques you can do with the paints. The one I’ve done here–a Salt Watercolor Technique–uses Kosher salt. It’s super simple and just requires a little patience (or a craft heater works, too!)

Basically, you want to begin with Watercolor Paper.

On Saturday we held our semi-annual Crazy for Cards Event. Guests came and made an assortment of 12 cards, complete with envelopes. We had a variety of different styles–traditional cards, unique folds, money holders (like pictured above and below) and we sprinkled in a few useful techniques as well. It’s always a fun event!

This money holder was one that was a favorite by many.
