Today’s card is one I am so excited to share with you because it’s so awesome! This card was made by my sister-in-law, Barb Baldwin. She has amazing talent for creating interactive cards. It helps that she is a pro at designing and creating on her Cricut machine!
This past Saturday my daughter had the opportunity to attend a Red Carpet Event with her Girl Scout troop along with 17 other troops. Each troop created their own movie and this event was the premier showing of those movies (luckily they could each only be 3-5 minutes otherwise with 18 movies to watch it would be quite the marathon!)
If you enjoy sending Easter wishes to friends and family, now is the time to start thinking about making those handmade cards! Today’s card is a perfect Easter Card–it’s one I received in my swap from Janice Hodgkin.
One of the amazing and beautiful projects you can make with this month’s Pretty in Pink Special is this lovely Butterfly Mobile. This video walks you through the process–step-by-step!

Getting together with friends to craft is super fun, right? But did you know that Close To My Heart offers exclusive Hostess Bundles when your party order (or individual order) reaches a certain level? It’s true! There are some amazing additional perks just waiting for you. One of them is an exclusive Cricut Bundle. Continue reading
Today it’s rainy and pretty dreary where I live. But I actually like it. It’s a change in weather, something I feel like there isn’t enough of in California (it’s important to note that I grew up in the Midwest so I am accustomed to some pretty dramatic weather changes!)
I felt like this card offered some great hope for a beautiful spring. Plus, I’m absolutely in love with Close To My Heart’s *NEW* Chelsea Gardens Paper Collection! Check out those beautiful patterns!
And you can’t go wrong with a stamp set called Welcome Spring! (I also really love the “Sunny days” sentiment! Several people have already pointed out this stamp set to me because of my blog name. I just need to mask off the “s” from the image and I’ll be good to go!) 🙂
I designed this card using CTMH’s *NEW* Make It From Your Heart Volume 4–it’s all about cards! Yep, 54 pages of wonderful inspiration for cards. The new collection contains 24 new patterns simple enough that you can create cards quick and easy, but also with room to embellish to your heart’s desire.
I used the soft colors in this paper collection (Juniper, Fern and Glacier) along with Sponge Daubers to ink up the sentiment. It makes for a nice multi-colored image and is easy enough to do.
I love the look of the angles in this pattern and felt this ribbon cutout from CTMH’s Cricut Artistry Collection was a perfect focal point for the card. And the final touch was 2 small Bitty Sparkles (love these gems, but you definitely need to use a pair of Non-Stick Micro-Tip Scissors or a pair of Tweezers with them!)
Be sure to check out all the new crafty goodness in Close To My Heart’s Seasonal Expressions 1 Catalog that was just released. I have no doubt you’ll fall in love with an item or two (or ten!)
It’s only 26 days until Christmas. Can you believe it? If you are on my mailing list you’ve already received a couple of handmade gift ideas you could use this holiday season. And another will be coming out this afternoon (so if you aren’t already on my mailing list–it’s not too late! Sign up before 1pm Pacific to get this week’s project tutorial.)
But I figured you can never have too many handmade gift ideas, right? I especially love the one I’m sharing with you today. It’s sort of like an easy scrapbook for those who don’t want to scrapbook. It’s a Memory Shadowbox. It has a top loading mechanism which makes it perfect for inserting tickets from movies, sporting events, plane tickets, photos and more. Anything that you want to save to remember a moment.
The wonderful thing about this gift is you can personalize it easily. I chose to get a 12″ x 12 ” size Shadowbox so that I could adhere a sheet of scrapbook paper to the back of the box. This is where you can make it perfect for the recipient–choose a pattern of paper that fits their personality. Or you could do as I did and use a basic neutral pattern so that the photos, tickets and other items are what pop in the box. I used paper from Close To My Heart’s Basics Paper Fundamentals (which incidentally are 30% off this month!) You’ll have to excuse the reflection of the clouds in my photos. It was incredibly hard to capture a photo since everything reflected in the glass of the Shadowbox!
I used 3 of the fonts from Close To My Heart’s exclusive Cricut Collections. “Memories” is from the newest You Are Here Collection, “The Best Things in Life are” is from Flower Market and “the people we love, the places we go & the memories we make” is from Artbooking. Luckily, all of these collections are still available in the physical cartridge collections. You might recall I shared the news weeks ago that Cricut announced they will no longer be producing physical cartridge collections. This means the exclusive CTMH Collections will be available on a while supplies last basis.
To make creating this Memory Shadowbox even easier for you, I’m giving you the Cricut cut file. Yay! So if you have a Cricut Explore you can create this project in no time at all. Just get yourself a top-loading Shadowbox, some vinyl and your favorite scrapbook paper and you’ll be all set!
‘Tis the season! Black Friday advertisements have already begun. Early Black Friday deals are even being offered. Holiday shopping is definitely upon us.
Have you ever made your wrapping for your holiday gifts? From simple boxes to darling totes, creating your own holiday wrapping can be easier than you might think (especially if you own a Cricut machine!)
CTMH Cricut Flower Market Collection
This Poinsettia Tote came together quick and easy using my Cricut machine and CTMH’s exclusive Cricut Collections. Here’s my tip for creating beautiful dimension to your poinsettias (found on the Cricut Flower Market)–use a Bone Folder to slightly curl back the petals. It adds a nice pop of dimension with very little effort.
Another fun tip is that you can color our *NEW* White Pearls. Yep, I simply took our Marigold ShinHan Marker and colored a pearl for the center of my poinsettia. How fun is that?!? You can customize and coordinate with any color scheme your project needs.
My sentiment is from the Silver & Gold Cardmaking Stamp Set. I stamped it in New England Ivy ink.
As you can see from the light blue outlines around the ornament images, this stamp set has a coordinating die set.
