Quick & Easy Goody Bags

CTMH Convention 2017

Today marks the start of CTMH’s Annual Convention–well, actually, today is Leadership Day and Day 1 of Convention begins tomorrow.  But even if you’re not attending Leadership (which I am & am so excited to be doing so!), you’re traveling to get to Convention and the excitement is surely building.  Many CTMH Consultants will tell you that this occasion is definitely a holiday in their books. An event NOT to be missed.

And this year is even more exciting because Convention is back in Salt Lake City (it hasn’t been there for 10 years!) so they will be offering a Home Office tour to all attendees.  A behind the scenes tour. How exciting!

Single CTMH Convention Goody Bag

There are many standard activities that occur while at Convention aside from the regularly scheduled activities.  Card swapping, Team Meetings/Celebrations, Roomie Gifts, etc.

CTMH Convention Goody Bags

I’m excited to have several of my team members joining me at Convention this year–the most so far!  These are just part of the gifts that I will be giving to each of them.  I wanted to share these today because they were easy to put together, but look super cute!

Closeup Convention Goody Bag

I started with some fun foil star bags I found in Target’s Dollar Spot (that place gets so much of my money; there is always something cute in that section!)  The stars seemed perfect to go with CTMH’s Little Dreamer Collection so I used CTMH’s Retired Cricut Art Philosophy Collection to cut some tags and then stamped and cut out images with the Little Dreamer Cardmaking Stamp Set + Thin Cuts die set.

To close it up, I used scraps of the Little Dreamer Paper glued to some basic clothespins with Liquid Glass. Then I added some stars I cut with the *NEW* Stars Basic Shapes Thin Cuts dies using Silver Glitter Paper.  Crazy easy to do and completes the look nicely.  And even better is it doesn’t take any hard to find items to make.  Just some cute bags (you could even make some out of paper you have at home if you liked!) and clothespins (Don’t have any?  Check your local Dollar Store.)

Perfect 1st Day of Summer Card

Sun & Surf Cricut Flower Market Card

It’s official!  Today is the First Day of Summer.  We’ve had some really HOT days here already, so to me, it already seems like summer is here.  Plus, once school ends, I think both parents and kids (and teachers!) alike, feel as though summer has officially begun.

Angled Sun & Surf Cricut Flower Market Card

Today I wanted to share 2 fun summer cards–one I created (and have offered at my monthly Card Buffets) and one I received from Laurie L.  Both are unique and definitely say summer in their own way.

My Sun & Surf card was created using CTMH’s Cricut Flower Market (their most recent one; but fingers crossed they’ll be another *NEW* Cricut Collection released on August 1st!)  I used each of CTMH’s newest colors from their Adventure palette (Pansy, Emerald, Willow, Lemon, Tangerine, Blossom and Raspberry) to give a nice bright pop of color.

Summer Double Z Fold Card

Laurie’s card uses CTMH’s *NEW* No Worries Paper Collection.  It’s a fun Double Z-Fold Card.  It also uses the *NEW* Summer BBQ Stamp Set and the No Worries Sequins (these might be my favorite sequins offered!)

Open Summer Double Z Fold Card

So when you open it up, you get the full pennant banner that says “summer” to show. A fun way to wish someone a wonderful summer full of happiness and surprises; just like this card!

The color combination in this card is great.  I don’t know that I would have put it together.  But I will definitely be using it together very soon!  It contains: Sapphire, Lagoon, Glacier and Tangerine.

Don’t forget that CTMH recently added an additional special to the month of June–get 25% off all cardstock.  With all these beautiful colors I’ve shown in these 2 cards, you may be inspired to stock up on some cardstock.  And the timing couldn’t be better!  To purchase some CTMH cardstock or other CTMH items, please visit MY ONLINE CTMH STORE.

Here’s to a great start to a wonderful summer…enjoy it!

Vacation Scrapbooking with Cricut

Close To My Heart’s exclusive Cricut Flower Market Collection has an amazing assortment of images.  Today, we’re going to explore one of the keys in this collection that is perfect for creating tropical vacation scrapbook layouts or even fun mini albums to document those vacations.

Have a Magical Day Card

Magical Day Unicorn Card

In the latest Close To My Heart catalog–the Seasonal Expressions 2–you’ll see the first *NEW* collection is the Little Dreamer.  It’s soft, pastel colors and darling prints like unicorns, hearts and polka dots are so appealing for Spring.

CTMH Sponging Technique to Create Background

It’s also the perfect collection to try some fun sponge stencil techniques with!  In fact, yesterday Close To My Heart did a blog post on just this.

This first layout, they did a fun title using a Cricut cutout and sponging.  You can also use our Thin Cuts dies, too!

First, use a bit of adhesive to attach your title or shape to the page. Next use a sponge dauber or the round sponge to add ink over your title or shape, and then fade the ink into your paper. Once the ink is dry, carefully remove your stencil (if there is any adhesive residue, it’s a cinch to remove with our Rub & Remove™ eraser).

For our artwork, we found it worked best to use both the round sponge and sponge daubers. We used a sponge dauber for a more concentrated look, like you can see immediately around our title, and then the round sponge for fading the ink into the page.

Sponging Tip: If you haven’t used a round sponge before, you’ll want to cut out a pie-shaped wedge from the sponge rather than using the entire sponge. That way your sponging will be more precise, and you can get more use out of your sponge!

We recommend playing with the round sponge and sponge daubers, as well as various amounts of ink, on some scratch paper before sponging onto your artwork.

CTMH Background Sponging Technique

They then did a favorite stencil technique to create a beautiful background; one I love the effect of, but always forget to utilize!  Look at how beautiful those clouds are.  And the depth that is created through a simple technique–amazing!

This stenciling technique is a great way to create unique backgrounds for your artwork. For this page, we attached three clouds to the page and sponged around them. After allowing the ink to dry, carefully removing the clouds, and removing any adhesive, we cut three more clouds and sponged around the edges. Then we popped them up with 3-D tape to give the page dimension. The final look sure is dreamy!

CTMH Border Sponging Technique

Their final layout creates a stunning rainbow border. It’s breathtaking.

You can incorporate multiple colors into your stenciling! Here we used a scalloped piece for our stencil, and then sponged on a rainbow of colors. There are SO many possibilities!

We hope this post has inspired you to try stenciling on your artwork. It really is such a fun way to get in touch with your inner artist!
