First Day of School

First Day of School Card

It’s that time of year–time for back to school!  In fact, today was the first day of school for my kids!

Close To My Heart’s August Stamp of the Month, School Year,  is the perfect stamp set for the start of school, end of school and everything in between!

CTMH August Stamp of the Month School Year

For this card, I stamped the pencil image in between the stripes of the Basics Paper Fundamentals and colored them in–that was the longest part of this card! The best touch while coloring in the pencils was using our Metallic Markers to color in the metal rim of each pencil.  It really added a nice touch to it.

The rest of the card went together super quick.  Here are the supplies I used to create the card:

  • School Year August Stamp of the Month (S1708)
  • Black Stamp Pad (Z2805)
  • Cranberry Stamp Pad (Z2816)
  • Basics Paper Fundamentals (Z3353)
  • Goldrush Cardstock (X5962)
  • Cranberry Cardstock (X5975)
  • Sapphire Cardstock (X5957)
  • White Daisy Cardstock (1385)
  • White Twine (Z3216)
  • Metallic Markers (Z1768)
  • ShinHan Barely Beige Marker (Z2445)
  • ShinHan Marigold Marker (Z2457)

50% off Halloween Crafting Supplies

Monstrous Halloween Card

Today is Tuesday…which means it’s another new week of 50% off deals with CTMH’s Warehouse Sale!  The items this week are all perfect Halloween crafting companions.

Monstrous Halloween Stamp Set + Thin Cuts dies

There’s this super adorable Monstrous Halloween Stamp Set and coordinating die set for only $13.48!  Crazy!  I love this set and have used it so much.  And since it was one of the 50% off items this week, I whipped up this card using it along with our *NEW* Basics Fundamentals.

CTMH Basics Fundamentals Paper

It’s always fun to change up your patterned paper simply by stamping on it.  And that is exactly what I did here with the striped paper.  I used Goldrush ink to stamp the swirly border and Black ink to stamp “eek.”  I really like how it turned out.

Monstrous Halloween Card

For the “window”/shaker part of the card, I used our 3″ x 3″ Flip Flaps.  These work amazingly well for this purpose and are generally overlooked as they are most popular for using with scrapbooking and adding extra photos to layouts.

Side View Monstrous Halloween Card

The other fun tip I want to share with you is what I put inside the Flip Flap along with the monster and the sequins.  I lined the inside of the Flip Flap with a used dryer sheet to give it more texture–sort of a web look if you will.  It’s pretty subtle, but pretty fun, too!  You should never underestimate the things you have lying around your house!

The final touch that is a true “must” with this Monstrous Halloween Stamp Set is to add wiggly eyes.  It adds a whole new dimension to these monsters.  In a way, it brings them to life!

So remember, these Warehouse Deals are while supplies last.  And truthfully, these deals are so great, there’s the perfect timing with Halloween right around the corner AND this set is just too stinkin’ cute.  They’ll be gone before the week is over for sure.  To get your 50% off Halloween deals, visit my ONLINE CTMH STORE right away!

Easy Handmade Cards with CTMH’s Complements

CTMH Inspire Complements

Making a handmade card doesn’t have to be hard or time-consuming.  Especially when you can utilize products that can make the process a whole lot faster and easier.  If you’re not familiar with Close To My Heart’s product line called Complements, let me introduce you to them today.

Closeup of Happy Moments Complements

Complements are a wonderful tool for cardmaking and scrapbooking.  Each package of Complements comes with a variety of stickers, die-cuts and chipboard elements.  Some contain foil and others contain glitter.  They are designed to “complement” a certain theme or color palette.  In my picture here, it’s a close-up of the gold glitter die-cuts contained in the Happy Moments Complements.  Look at how gorgeous that looks?!?  And it’s so super simple to add to the project!

My Friend Card

Here’s the card in it’s entirety.

CTMH Happy Moments Complements

You can see I also used some of the sticker borders to create another accent to my cluster focusing in on my sentiment.  The gold foil hearts coordinate beautifully with the gold glitter die-cut I used along the top of the card.  By adding a few elements from one of the Complements packages, you can create a card that is not only quick & easy, but beautifully coordinated, too!

Currently, CTMH has 14 different Complements to choose from.  To view all of the options, please visit my ONLINE CTMH STORE.

Summer Twist Fold Gift Card Holder

Summer Twist Fold Gift Card Holder

Today’s card is one from our Spring Fling Event.  It’s a fun way to present a gift card. Plus, it has a fun look with the twist fold!

We used a couple of techniques with this card aside from the fun fold.  I took 3 sponge daubers to apply the ink to create the multi-colored beach umbrella.  Also, I added some beautiful shine and sparkle to the starfish images with our Gold Shimmer Brush (hard to tell in the photo!)  The Scallop Border (Scallop Punch is now retired) adds a nice feel of ocean waves to the pocket.  The other touch I added to the card that fits in nicely with a worn beach look is to distress the edges of some of the papers.  I used the blade of my scissors, but to be safer, you should use our Edge Distresser to achieve this look.  Plus, with so many blade edges on this tool, it’ll last you a long time! Perfect for distressing many, many projects =)

Inside Summer Twist Fold Gift Card Holder

I kept the look going on the inside of the card, which has another pocket perfect for a gift card, a little note card or both!

Happy 4th of July!

4th of July Card

In celebration of today, I wanted to share this 4th of July card I created.  I combined patterned papers from CTMH’s No Worries and Jack Paper Collections and used the Fourth of July Stamp.

I really like how it turned out!

Layered Star on 4th of July Card

I especially like my layered star I created with the Basic Star Thin Cuts and White Burlap Ribbon (I cut the strands apart in order to make a more delicate look.)

I hope you enjoy your 4th of July!

Let’s Fiesta Shaker Card

Let's Fiesta Shaker Card

It’s here–CTMH’s Annual Convention!  In celebration of all the excitement of today, I wanted to share this fun shaker card I created using one of the Pocket Cards in the Prickly Pear Paper Pack.

CTMH's Prickly Pear Paper Pack

It’s totally the right sentiment for today! And I love the different look I created with the shaker component–I used some white tulle instead of some clear plastic.
