A Little Bit of Pun Card

December Stamp of the Month A Little Bit of Pun

A Little Bit of Pun December Stamp of the Month

Have you seen Close To My Heart’s Stamp of the Month for December yet?  It’s super fun with all the different puns and coordinating images.

I Like You a Watt Pun Card

I created this card using the set.  It was quick and easy to create but super cute, I think.

Closeup Like You a Watt Card

You can’t initially tell from my photo but after coloring in the light bulb, I went over it with CTMH’s Clear Shimmer Brush to give it a little added sparkle.

Closeup Like You a Watt Pun Card

To further enhance the feeling of light bursting from the bulb, I also traced the lines with the Clear Shimmer Brush.  It helps draw your eye to the focal point a little more.

Layers of I like You a Watt Pun Card

Finally, the last detail I did to really draw your eye to the cute light bulb was to add layers and a little bit of dimension with our Thin 3-D Foam Tape.  If you don’t currently own any dimensional tape–you should!  It’s truly a staple I use over and over.  I especially love that Close To My Heart not only offers a traditional 3-D Foam Tape but also a Thin 3-D Foam Tape for just a little lift.  And if that wasn’t awesome enough, there is also the option to get both in a “dot” form as well!

There’s still time to grab your own A Little Bit of Pun Stamp Set.  It’s available through December 31st.  Plus, it could be yours for only $5!  Yep, it’s only $5 when you spend $50 or more on Close To My Heart products.  You can check it all out on my ONLINE CTMH STORE.

A DIY Christmas Village Tutorial

CTMH Holiday Expressions Catalog

Have you seen the cover of Close To My Heart’s Seasonal Expressions Catalog?  It’s got a darling Christmas Village on it.  So cute that many have been asking how they can create their very own Christmas village!

Papercrafted Holiday Village

Well, today Close To My Heart has answered the many, many requests on their blog.

The winter village on the cover of our Holiday Expressions idea book has been getting a lot of attention, SO we are breaking it down on the blog today for you to make one of your very own!

First things first—to replicate our little paper houses exactly, you will need 3 kraft tapered tote boxes, two 6″ and one 8″ like these:

kraft-taper-top-boxkraft-tapered-tall

When we assembled our village, these were readily available at one of our local craft stores, but we’ve found some similar options available online that you can use to get the same look (see the recipes’ below for the links).

Now, let’s take a look at how we transformed these boxes into festive holiday decorations!

Punny Pals Halloween Boxes

Punny Pals Operation Smile Stamp Set

This month Close To My Heart is trying to give more to Operation Smile–the organization they’ve supported for nearly a decade.  In fact, just this weekend while I was at a scrapbooking retreat hosted by Close To My Heart, we raised nearly $10,000 through an auction.  It was enough to save a mission to Mexico to perform surgeries that was in jeopardy of being cancelled due to lack of funds.  It’s an amazing thing to know that so many children and their parents lives will be improved because of these small actions that together make a big impact.

Punny Pals Die Set

I was super excited when CTMH announced they were going to be offering a limited-edition die set to coordinate with their Operation Smile Punny Pals Stamp Set.  No more fussy cutting–yay!  But–it’s only available during the month of October AND it’s only available while supplies last!

Punny Pals Halloween Boxes

I decided to use the Punny Pals Stamp Set along with the coordinating dies to create a couple of Halloween-“ish” boxes.

Cats and Bats Paper Pack

I used a fun and simple technique of creating my own patterned paper simply by using some Alcohol Markers to color in the lines in between the black stripes.  For one, I did traditional colors (Marigold and Lavender Shin Han Markers) and for the other, I went for the trendy whimsical colors this season (Marigold, Lavender, Turquoise Blue and Tender Pink.)

Share a Smile Card Kit

This is a great month to support Operation Smile through purchasing some great CTMH products.  You could get the Punny Pals Stamp Set, the coordinating Punny Pals Thin Cuts dies, the Share a Smile Card Kit, a t-shirt or even do a direct donation to Operation Smile.

Giving someone the ability to live their lives like so many of us do–without any of the difficulties that having a cleft lip or cleft palate can bring–is a very powerful gift to give.  Help us change someone’s life this month!

From the Heart Christmas Card

Santa From the Heart Slider Card

Today on Close To My Heart’s blog, they talked about how the National Stamping Month Special–From the Heart–is designed to be versatile and let you be the artist.  While the From the Heart Stamp Set is definitely a beautiful set–and one which you would use over and over again–these cards can make some pretty amazing holiday cards, too!

Open Santa Slider Card

Here is my spin on these beautiful From the Heart Slider Cards using the *NEW* Little Saint Nick Stamp Set along with the *NEW* Ho, Ho, Ho Stamp.  I absolutely love the Little Saint Nick image.  You may recall I used him in a Circle Accordion Card I shared a few weeks ago.  He’s so cute and easy to and color.  I used our ShinHan Markers in Barely Beige, Tender Pink and Carmine.

And of course, I couldn’t resist using our Clear Shimmer Brush on his hat trim for a little shine and sparkle!

CTMH Holiday Collection

CTMH Holiday Expressions Catalog

It’s finally arrived!  Close To My Heart’s holiday collection is here!  The *NEW* Holiday Expressions Catalog is full of crafty goodness for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Fall, Christmas and more.

Santa Circle Accordion Card

I made this fun Santa Circle Accordion Card with the *NEW* Little Saint Nick Stamp and the *NEW* Ho, Ho, Ho Stamp.

Open Santa Circle Accordion Card

I kept mainly to 3 colors with this card–Ruby, Black and White Daisy.

Santa Circle Accordion Card Front

I did add in some additional colors with my ShinHan Markers: Carmine and Lavender blended together for Santa’s hat to match the Ruby color of the cardstock.  Plus, Barely Beige and Tender Pink for his cheeks.

And my final touches were adding a large White Dot to the tip of his hat (from the Black & White Dots) and one of my favorite products–the Clear Shimmer Brush to the trim of his hat for some shine and sparkle!

First Day of School

First Day of School Card

It’s that time of year–time for back to school!  In fact, today was the first day of school for my kids!

Close To My Heart’s August Stamp of the Month, School Year,  is the perfect stamp set for the start of school, end of school and everything in between!

CTMH August Stamp of the Month School Year

For this card, I stamped the pencil image in between the stripes of the Basics Paper Fundamentals and colored them in–that was the longest part of this card! The best touch while coloring in the pencils was using our Metallic Markers to color in the metal rim of each pencil.  It really added a nice touch to it.

The rest of the card went together super quick.  Here are the supplies I used to create the card:

  • School Year August Stamp of the Month (S1708)
  • Black Stamp Pad (Z2805)
  • Cranberry Stamp Pad (Z2816)
  • Basics Paper Fundamentals (Z3353)
  • Goldrush Cardstock (X5962)
  • Cranberry Cardstock (X5975)
  • Sapphire Cardstock (X5957)

  • Metallic Markers (Z1768)

Storybook Alpha Dream Card

My card today was quick and easy to put together–the longest part was coloring in the letters with my ShinHan Markers!

Closeup of Storybook Alpha Dream Card
